Vehicle Ignition Lock Repairs
If your vehicle's key has stopped turning, won’t go in properly, or is very difficult to remove from the ignition barrel, it can be quite frustrating. Rather than resorting to the purchase of a completely new ignition lock, I stock specialized lock components that are specific to each brand of vehicle. I can carefully take apart your ignition lock, replace all the worn parts, fully service the lock, and if necessary, provide newly cut replacement keys. This process ensures that your ignition system is restored to its former functionality, making it as good as new and fully guaranteed for your peace of mind.

Saving you money
Main dealers can only replace the entire steering lock or ignition barrel, potentially needing new keys programmed specifically for your vehicle. It is important to note that the door lock might function with a different key than the one used for the ignition. You would need to recover the car to them, causing extra hassle, delays and increasing costs significantly.
Tom Bowman Ltd can quickly and efficiently take off your broken ignition lock, fully service and replace any damaged or worn parts, cut brand new key blades to ensure they work perfectly, and put it back on your vehicle. Making it as good as new and fully guaranteed.

Faulty Nissan ignition locks
Can’t pull the key out of the Ignition lock?
Many Nissan Qashqai, Micra, Note, Juke, and Pathfinder owners face a common issue where the key won't come out of the ignition. A cast metal small lever at the front of the keyhole should engage the steering lock when you pull the key out. However, this part can wear down, causing the key to get stuck. The more you try to pull the key out, the tighter it gets. Eventually, this wear creates a large burr on the metal lever, making it even harder to remove the key.
Sometimes this part can break, causing your vehicle's central locking to fail. If you take the key out of the lock, you may see deep scratches on both sides of the key blade. These marks are caused by a small lever at the front of the lock.
Some people suggest using a small file in the lock to remove the burr. While this might help temporarily, the issue will likely return. I've also seen keys ground down to make them thinner for easier removal, but this is a bad idea as the key may snap and create more problems.
The best and most affordable choice is to call me! I will take off the lock, fix it, cut new key blades and put the lock back on your vehicle. This usually takes about an hour, and you won't have this issue again—guaranteed.
